KONE Redefines Vertical Transportation with Groundbreaking Digital Elevator at SkyPoint

Australia's first KONE Digital Experience Display elevator transports passengers to the 77th floor of the Q1 SkyPoint building in 38 seconds, offering stunning views and an immersive experience.

In an unprecedented collaboration between KONE and SkyPoint, Australia’s tallest tower, the Q1 building on the Gold Coast, introduces an extraordinary attraction – the KONE Digital Experience Display elevator. This revolutionary innovation promises a ride like no other, transporting passengers above the clouds to the 77th floor in a mere 38 seconds, offering breathtaking views and an immersive journey.

Adam Daly, Modernisation Director at KONE, comments, “We are thrilled to partner with SkyPoint on this groundbreaking project, bringing Australia's first-of-its-kind sustainable and immersive elevator experience to life.

“The KONE Digital Experience Car and KONE UltraRope technology represent a leap forward in elevator innovation and this collaboration not only enhances the visitor experience at SkyPoint but also aligns with our commitment to eco-friendly and sustainable practices across Australia’s built environment.”

The KONE Digital Experience Car is not your average lift; it’s a portal to a multi-sensory adventure. Dynamic soundscapes envelop passengers upon entry, setting the stage for the journey ahead. Vivid colours project across the walls, while captivating themes unfold throughout the journey. It is an immersive experience that transforms the act of riding an elevator into a thrilling escapade.

But the innovation doesn’t stop there. At the heart of this transportation lies KONE’s UltraRope technology – a carbon fibre hoisting solution that replaces traditional steel ropes. This eco-friendly marvel not only reduces energy consumption but also cuts greenhouse gas emissions, making it a win-win for both passengers and the planet. By reducing moving masses, UltraRope lowers acceleration currents and machine-room cooling requirements, leading to substantial energy savings. It also ensures precise floor levelling. Enhancing these green benefits, the renovation includes energy-efficient machines with Ecodisc technology and the ReGenerate 800, collectively providing energy efficiency up to 95%.

And let’s not forget about speed. With the KONE Digital Experience Car, reaching the 77th floor of SkyPoint is not just a journey – it’s a race against time. As Australia’s fastest elevator,  clocking in at just 38 seconds, it is a record-breaking feat that adds an extra layer of excitement to the experience.

Greg Yong, Chief Executive Officer of SkyPoint, expressed his excitement to finally open the new elevator for guests to experience. "We are proud to introduce this groundbreaking elevator experience to our guests. It reflects our commitment to innovation and enhances the overall visitor experience, making every trip to SkyPoint on Level 77 unforgettable."

In addition to the incredible speed, what is also impressive about this project is its commitment to sustainability. From the use of energy-efficient machines to the incorporation of eco-friendly materials, every aspect of the elevator has been designed with environmental impact in mind. It is a testament to the power of innovation to create a greener, more sustainable future.

“As SkyPoint opens its doors, it is clear that we are witnessing the dawn of a new era in vertical transportation. With its blend of cutting-edge technology, immersive experiences, and environmental consciousness, the KONE Digital Experience Display elevator is not just a ride, it is a glimpse into the future of urban mobility,” adds Daly.
